Tofu Restaurants

There is a tofu specialty restaurant called Mamejii (Japanese language site), in Ebisu near the Ebisu Shrine. How I miss the Komazawa Dori and the collection of small shops that line the street all the way to Daikanyama.

With a name that literally means the "Grandfather of the Bean(curd)," one can't help but go in with high expectations. Menu includes Soymilk Fondue, Tofu Hot Pot and many other creations made with the Tofu as a primary ingredient in mind.

We didn't get a chance to sample it while we were living just a station away in Hiroo and now I fully regret not having done so. Fortunately, L.A. is no culinary second-class citizen when it comes to a mean bowl of tofu "jige." The soup is boiling hot such that when you crack open an egg into it, the egg pretty much cooks immediately. Posted by Hello

Drizzle in L.A.

It started drizzling in the early afternoon at the intersection of Universal Citywalk and Lankersheim. As timing would have it, I had just gotten a nice, shiny coat of wax on my beloved car. Timing is everything in life, isn't it?

Attempting to offset the trouble and the misery and the economic downside brought on by the occasional onslaught of unpredicable weather, I've committed myself to either locating or starting a fund that invests heavily in the countless carwashes lining Ventura Blvd., as well as perhaps the countless construction companies that have gotten lucrative deals to make the Aichi Expo 05 happen.

Sharp Aquos

A better view of the excellent 20" Sharp Aquos -- standard issue in the Executive Tower rooms at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. Posted by Hello

Yuki Daruma

One whole inch of snow fell on Tokyo today, as reported on the Fuji TV news and shown on the Sharp Aquos TV set in my hotel room. Snow seems to wreak special havoc in a place dependent on public transportation like Tokyo. I had not seen such snow in all my years in Hiroo or Yokohama. Posted by Hello
