Tofu Restaurants

There is a tofu specialty restaurant called Mamejii (Japanese language site), in Ebisu near the Ebisu Shrine. How I miss the Komazawa Dori and the collection of small shops that line the street all the way to Daikanyama.

With a name that literally means the "Grandfather of the Bean(curd)," one can't help but go in with high expectations. Menu includes Soymilk Fondue, Tofu Hot Pot and many other creations made with the Tofu as a primary ingredient in mind.

We didn't get a chance to sample it while we were living just a station away in Hiroo and now I fully regret not having done so. Fortunately, L.A. is no culinary second-class citizen when it comes to a mean bowl of tofu "jige." The soup is boiling hot such that when you crack open an egg into it, the egg pretty much cooks immediately. Posted by Hello
